Drill Bits
Drill bits are cutting tools used to create holes in metal, wood, and masonry materials, typically of a cylindrical shape, using a drill. They’re available in a wide range of lengths, flute geometries, and materials.
Choosing the right drill bit depends on the material being cut and the desired diameter and depth of the hole. Jobber-length bits are the most common because of their rigidity and length, and are best for cutting alloy steels.
Bits made of high speed steel are used in general purpose drilling applications and can cut a wide range of materials. Cobalt steel bits are good for drilling harder materials, like stainless steel and titanium alloys. For drilling abrasive materials, carbide-tipped bits are suitable.
